Looking for a spot of winter sun walking? Why not head to Temerife in the Canary Islands? Neil and I visited the island a few years ago and enjoyed many fabulous day hikes on the miles of footpaths in the mountains and along the coast.
One of the many attractive areas to walk is the Teide National Park – a wonderful volcanic landscape with amazing rock formations. I’m still to write about our visit to the island and share our photos, but one of my internet friends has written an account of her overnight trip into the park. She and her son bivvied ‘under the stars’ in a cave, before continuing the following morning to ascend Montana de Guajara (2718 m).
